Heading to Sarawak Cultural Village & Damai Beach Resort....
Pay a visit to Sarawak Cultural Village(SCV). You'll get to experience Sarawak in half a day at the living museum with a difference.
There are 7 unique traditional houses in the cultural village. It was an eye-opener to visit these unique houses as you get to experience the culture of the ethnic groups on Sarawak. A plank walk map is given as a guide for the visitation.
The Chinese Farm House host was very friendly. She explained the life style of the people, the bird's nest process and even showed us the usage of the traditional stuff to us. Some of those traditional stuff weren't special to us as we can also found them in our house as well!
Try the Melanau Bamboo Dance. Follow the rhythm created by the bamboo sticks and step in between it. Gonna be quick in your movement or else your leg will be clamped by those bamboo sticks. I'd admit that I'm kinda clumsy in this dance!
Take a look at the traditional instruments and handicraft. Have fun playing with the xylophone as it produces wonderful melody.
The blowpipe shooting is available in the Penan Hut. However, there wasn't any host while we arrived there. Didn't get to watch the blowpipe shooting as well as the blowpipe making by the Penan warriors.
The Iban Warrior looks kinda fierce but he was actually quite humorous. The blowpipe shooting performance was great!
Before the show ended, the audience were invited to join the performer to dance on stage as well.
We continued to visit the Iban Longhouse after the Cultural Show.
The cone shape of the Bidayuh longhouse was unique. Get to experience winnowing rice, pounding paddy and see some bamboo carve.
It took us some time to cross this bridge as there were quite a number of people crossing from the other side.
While crossing the bridge, Lovena accidentally dropped one of her slipper! OMG!!
Thank goodness we've Mei Fern which is tiny & brave enough to willingly go down and picked up the slipper for her.
Dropped by at the souvenir shop before leaving SCV. All of us enjoyed visiting those traditional houses & watching the cultural show, worth coming anyway!
A visit to Jong's Crocodile Farm...
Must not miss the feeding time of the Crocodile. This is the most interesting part of all. The staff were reeling away the food (chicken, I think) during the feeding session.
It's time to explore pitcher plants as we rarely found it at Peninsular Malaysia.
However, it's such a pity that those pitcher plants & wild orchids were not well-preserved in this garden. Most of the plants weren't fresh and looks almost half-dead.
Next Station ->
This Wildlife Centre is a place to preserve Orang Utans. There were altogether 24 Orang Utans in this centre. They weren't caged and were allow to move around freely. It was kinda dangerous as the Orang Utans might attack you!
The best visiting time is of course at the feeding hour. In fact, there was nothing much besides that time. We were allow to enter the feeding trail during the feeding hour. All of us have to remain silent while entering the feeding trail so that we won't scare off those Orang Utans. This is when those Orang Utans were released from the deep jungles.
Booked the air ticket to Kuching during the 0 fare promotion in February. The air ticket to and forth to JB and Kuching cost only RM63, which is very cheap! No wonder AirAsia came out with the slogan - Now Everyone Can Fly. Hahaha...
I was informed that my flight time was changed 1 week b4 my trip to Kuching. Both the to and forth flight time was delayed! This certainly brings inconvenience to me.
-Day 1-
Met a few Muarian that is currently pursuing their degree at UTM. Hui Min & Jing Ying (QS Students) and also Sock Fei & Yi Chyi (Marketing Students) at Senai Airport. What a coincidence, they were in the same flight as me to Kuching. Didn't know that Muarian like to visit Kuching that much. Hehe..
At Senai International Airport, b4 heading to Kuching.
It wasn't very comfortable to sit in the plane coz the space was kinda narrow. The seats in an express bus is much more comfortable.View from the plane.
This visiting pass is required for those from Penisular Malaysia. This pass needs to be kept and must be shown at the Immigration Counter in order to leave Sawarak. I was wondering, aren't we from the same country? Why do we need a pass to travel within the same country?
Visiting pass to Sarawak. Permitted to enter & remain in Sarawak for 90 days from the date shown above.
Arrived at Kuching around 8pm. Lovena's parents and aunt came and pick us up at the airport. Had dinner together at 101 Food Court. Later on, Lovena brought us around to see some big houses before going back to her house. That was all for the first day.

-Day 2-
Visited Lovena's School after breakfast.
St. Joseph's Catheral, Kuching. A Church right opposite St. Joseph School.
The Civic Centre (The "Big Umbrella")
Can see the entire Kuching Town from the top of the Civic Centre.
Visited some of the museums including The Natural History Museum, Art Museum, The Sawarak Museum. A trip to the museum will give you an idea on the culture & heritage of Sarawak.
The Natural History Museum, Art Museum, The Sawarak Museum.Later at night...
Cat Hunt at Town Area
Walked all the way to the waterfront after taking pictures with the Cat Statues. Planned to play bowling at first, but ended up at The Waterfront. Thanks to our organizer with her 'strategic' plan.
Us with the hornbill water fountain behind.
The story of The Mousedeer & The Crocodile carved on the wall. Nice carving. Found it toward the end of the Waterfront.
